A Postgraduate Mentorship for Aspiring Trauma-Focused Psychologist

Are you a dedicated psychologist who is eager to expand your expertise in trauma work but feeling hesitant or unsure where to start?  We understand that trauma work can be daunting, but with the right guidance and support, it can also be one of the most rewarding areas of practice.

We are a well established and highly respected private psychology practice in Dural, Northwest Sydney. Dural is just 40 minutes drive from the centre of Sydney. At Dural Psychology, we believe in creating a space where people feel heard, understood and supported on their journey toward mental wellness. Our practice is founded on the principles of connection and collaboration, both within our team and with our clients. We strive for excellence in all aspects of our work, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, evidence based treatment and integrity. Above all, we genuinely care. We care deeply about our clients and equally about each of our team members.

What We Offer:

  • Personalised Mentorship: You’ll receive regular one-on-one guidance from an experienced trauma therapist who is committed to helping you grow. Stephanie is an accredited EMDR practitioner who is extremely passionate about the use of EMDR for trauma work. She has been working in the trauma field for decades. Even before working as a Psychologist she was involved in counselling colleagues after traumatic events as an on-road Paramedic. You will also have access to regular in-house peer supervision and continuing education.
  • Skill Development: We have a steady stream of trauma based referrals including treatment of emergency services workers. This will enable you to slowly build up your case load and confidence in working with trauma clients.
  • Supportive Environment: We create a safe, nurturing space where you can ask questions, reflect on your experiences, and have instant guidance for tricky situations. Your personal and professional needs for self-care will be held as a high priority. We offer flexible work options, reasonable case loads and will encourage you to take holidays. We have a range of different tea, chocolates and a Nespresso machine for recharging between sessions.
  • Comprehensive Learning: From theoretical foundations to practical interventions, you’ll be equipped with the tools and knowledge to thrive in trauma work.
  • Admin Support: You will work in a modern, paperless office that is continually striving to use technology to streamline processes and save admin time. You will be supported by committed admin staff, freeing you up to focus on clinical care.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Psychology Qualifications: You have completed post graduate studies in Psychology and are currently registered with APHRA, enabling you to practice in Australia.
  • A Passionate Learner: You are eager to deepen your understanding and skillset in trauma work.
  • Growth-Mindset: You’re open to feedback, willing to reflect on your practice, and ready to step out of your comfort zone.
  • Professional Excellence: You have worked hard to develop and implement a solid understanding of foundational therapy skills. You are committed to providing the highest level of clinical care and create treatment plans that are based on best practices, latest research and evidence-based techniques.
  • Integrity: You have a strong moral compass that guides all your decisions and are committed to honest and ethical practice.
  • Value Relationships: You believe healthy relationships are one of the most important aspects of life and a major contributor to healing outcomes.
  • Caring and Compassionate: You love people and enjoy adding value to their lives. You sincerely care about the wellbeing of clients and team members, and have a warm, compassionate approach.
