Tharushi holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Sydney and Australian National University and a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Technology, Sydney.
She is a fully registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a Board-approved supervisor.
Tharushi has experience working in a range of settings including adolescent inpatient settings, hospitals, outpatient mental health and university clinics. Tharushi has worked with clients across the lifespan with a special interest in working with adolescents, young adults and families. As part of this she has assisted clients with a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, perfectionism, emotion dysregulation, self-harm, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma and psychosis to name a few.
She approaches her client work with empathy, warmth and a genuine interest in helping her clients. She aims to create a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to process and make sense of their experiences and move towards living a more meaningful life. Tharushi also has experience in working creatively and non-verbally in engaging clients who may struggle with being in the therapy space.
Tharushi works collaboratively with clients to provide an individualised treatment using a number of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
